Michele Lessona, a pioneer in scientific communication, was born in Venaria Reale on September 20, 1823, and dedicated a significant part of his career as a scholar and scientist to various institutions in Turin, including as Director of the Museum of Natural Sciences, Director of the Academy of Sciences, and as a Senator of the Kingdom.
The City of Venaria Reale, the Piedmont Region, the Regional Museum of Natural Sciences, the Department of Life Sciences and Systems Biology of the University of Turin, the Management Authority for the Protected Areas of the Royal Parks, the Consortium of the Savoy Royal Residences La Venaria Reale, and the Order of Biologists of Piedmont, Liguria, and Valle d’Aosta have come together for a scientific citizenship project that begins with the Lessona Days.
