Potential scenarios in mountainous environments. Contingencies and strategies for managing them in a safer and more sustainable manner.

How would you react to a sudden storm, an encounter with a sheepdog-guarded flock, a tick clinging to your armpit, or a boot sole coming loose mid-hike?

Mountain hiking demands quick, informed decisions to ensure both personal safety and environmental care.

Cose che capitano in montagna collects 40 real-life scenarios drawn from the experiences of mountain guides, park rangers, and outdoor enthusiasts.

Agnese Blasetti's illustrations draw the reader into each scene, complementing a text that offers clear guidance on avoiding common mistakes.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a favourite passage and/or an open question from their reading.

Born in Savona in 1984, Irene Borgna turned her passion for the mountains into a career after completing a PhD in Alpine anthropology under Marco Aime. She lives in Valle Gesso, in the Maritime Alps, working as an environmental educator and nature guide. Her book Il pastore di Stambecchi received a special mention at the Rigoni Stern Prize (2018), and she won the award with Cieli Neri (2021), both published by Ponte alle Grazie and CAI. These were followed by Il Manuale per Giovani Stambecchi (Salani-CAI, 2022), among other titles.
