Traditionally managed fruit-bearing chestnut groves. An oasis of biodiversity, blend of nature and culture.
Fruit-bearing chestnut groves are striking features of the Italian landscape and a biodiversity hotspot. Traditional management both for forestry and open woodlands ensure a high level of biodiversity, making century-old trees, which are uncommon elsewhere, reservoirs for quite a number of rare and protected species (e.g. orchids).
