REGIONAL MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY OF TURIN
The Regional Museum of Natural History of Turin (Italian: Museo Regionale di Scienze Naturali, abbreviated as MRSN) it is located in the former San Giovanni Battista Hospital, built at the end of the 17th century by Amedeo di Castellamonte and completed by other renowned architects at a later time.
In 1978
Was established by Regione Piemonte, as a first-order administrative division on Piedmont territory, In 1978.
In 1980
Regione Piemonte and the University of Turin signed a loan agreement whereby the University made its naturalistic collections available to the Museum.
The agreement is still in force.
In 2013
Since August 2013 the museum has been temporarily closed to visitors due to needed complex repair and renovation works.
January 2024
The reopening of the areas called Ark, Historical Museum of Zoology, and Temporary Exhibitions, scheduled for December 2023, is one of the most awaited events throughout the region and beyond.
