Cascina Ressia Environmental Education Centre (C.E.A.)
Overview
The Environmental Education Centre is part of the Management Body for the protected Areas of the piedmontese Po.
It was founded in October 2007 at Cascina Ressia.
It is an accredited member of the Regional Network of Environmental Education Services.
- The Centre is located next to the Doretta Morta stream, a small waterway near the River Po confluence that was formerly a branch of the Dora Baltea.
This waterway sustains a thriving ecosystem with high-value aquatic and plant life.
Nearby, visitors can admire:
- a black alder wood, representing a scarce remnant of the wet forests that once covered the Po Valley before intensive farming;
- common local crops include rice, poplar and maize;
- the Verneto della Ressia, a natural area comprising a pond, a copse and a picnic area.
Inside the Centre there are:
- an interactive display wall, dedicated to exploring the woodland’s subsoil;
- a sensory console, dedicated to the aquatic environment.
No architectural barriers.
