Of men and farmlands

Overview

Of men and farmlands is a Visitor Center of the Gran Paradiso National Park.

It highlights the relationship between man and Alpine agriculture.

Topics covered include:

  • key aspects of the history of agriculture;
  • local culture;
  • typical Alpine farm products.

Other topics explored include:

  • effects of anthropogenic global warming;
  • the need for a transition to sustainable forms of tourism and economy;
  • the importance of respecting and caring for the environment to ensure a harmonious relationship between humans and nature.

The visitor route consists of:

  • an indoor area with a series of information panels and educational games for children;
  • an outdoor area of approximately 2,500 square metres, featuring educational trails and cultivation of plant and food crops typical of the valley: potatoes, hemp, cereals and aromatic herbs.

About the building housing the centre:

  • built using environmentally friendly materials;
  • powered by renewable energy sources.
